INSTRUCTIONS ON ACADEMIC DRESSES

Dress code

Ø   All graduands must be dressed formally and appropriately for the graduation.

Ø   Any graduand found improperly dressed will not be permitted to enter the Nanyang Auditorium.

   MALE GRADUANTS

Ø   All male graduands are requested to wear white, collared long sleeved shirts, tucked in. (Short sleeve shirts are not allowed).

Ø   Dark coloured trousers (e.g. Black, Dark Grey, Navy Blue, Dark Brown)

Ø   Dark coloured shoes and socks (e.g. Black, Dark Grey, Navy Blue, Dark Brown)

   FEMALE GRADUANTS

Ø   All female graduands are requested to wear white blouses with collars and sleeves.

Ø   Plain, dark coloured jackets (e.g. Black, Dark Grey, Navy Blue, Dark Brown)

Ø   Plain, dark coloured dress pants or skirts (e.g. Black, Dark Grey, Navy Blue, Dark Brown)

Ø   Dark coloured shoes (e.g. Black, Dark Grey, Navy Blue, Dark Brown)

   INAPPROPRIATE DRESSING

Ø   Hair that has been dyed or highlighted in unconventional colours.

Ø   Male graduands are not allowed to have long hair that touches the collar.

Ø   Jeans, T-Shirts, Polo shirts, Shorts, Culottes and bermudas.

Ø   Low cut, sleeveless, bare midriff blouses.

Ø   Mini-skirts with exceptionally high slits.

Ø   Slippers, sneakers, canvas shoes, sports shoes, open toed sandals.

NOTE:

Any graduand considered inappropriately attired will not be allowed to go up on stage to receive the degree scroll.

Academic Dress Rental Fee and Caution Deposit

Graduants must be properly attired as befits the occasion.  Academic dress is mandatory for all graduates attending the ceremony. This can be hired from the University for the occasion at a fee of $170.60. The details of the charges are as follows:

 Rental                       $  20.60          (inclusive of 3% GST)

Caution Deposit            $150.00           (refundable)
